Abstract

In all age groups, people with ID experience a higher prevalence of health conditions. These can either be associated with their disability or be direct or indirect consequences of the ID. Such health conditions are often multiple and complex and may include sensory impairment and epilepsy, physical illness or disability as well as mental health and behavioural challenges. In order to understand and communicate their choices and preferences, people with ID (and their carers) may require support.

Abstract:

Emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases pose significant threats to human health and security for small island nations in the Pacific. Determinants of infectious disease emergence and re-emergence are numerous and can be broadly categorized into the microbial agent-related factors, the human-adapted agents and the human environment including climate, weather and changing ecosystems.
